Taiwanese newspaper DigiTimes is reporting that iPad 2 sales have reached 2.4-2.6 million in its first month based on sources at upstream touch panel suppliers in Taiwan. This comes despite supply issues concerning the availability of cover lenses for the Apple tablet’s touch-screen modules following the Japan earthquake last month. The anonymous contact also offered DigiTimes a “conservative” estimate that Apple will deliver as many as 4.3 million tablets a month, 12 million units in total. This news comes within hours of a report by Business Insider stating that analysts at Deutsche Bank have determined that Motorola Mobility has sold only 100,000 Motorola Xoom tablets during its first two months.
Forbes reported yesterday that Pacific Crest analyst James Faucette said that channel checks have found that sell-through trends for both the Xoom tablet as well as the Motorola Atrix smart phone have, “been disappointing.” This is understandable, given the fact that iPad 2 sales on the first day alone topped 300,000, and during its first week sales are estimated at being between 350,000 and 400,000. And while few expected that Google’s first real response to the iPad would match its competition despite the fact that it has for the most part received positive reviews from critics including Skatter Tech, these numbers are unquestionably dismal and do not bode well for the Android 3.0 Honeycomb powered tablet’s future as an iPad rival.
Apple has not released an official statement regarding the iPad 2 sales, although they likely will do so on April 20 when the company has its scheduled Q2 earnings call. Motorola has understandably also remained mum on the subject and as of now has yet to release the official Xoom sales figures.

No, apparently it is religion.
ooooh, i bet they mad, and hating on Apple. This is why companies should crreate new and better products, not copy and say “Me too”.
But i think it’s great, because i want a Xoom, and i’ll be able to pick on up at Big Lots. for $99.99 this Fall!!
@tktim:
You do know that most of the things you suggest in your post about the XOOM, dont work yet right?
Xoom has the capability, not the functionality..
USB port = inoperable
Flash= inoperable
SD card slot= inoperable
4G *LTE* support = inoperable
so for the extra money on a Xoom, you get a better screen rez, and a Promise of better things to come. you seem like the kind of guy that will loan me lots of money and i “Promise” ill pay you back.!!
I don’t think relying on just specifications is the best way to go. There is a lot more to a gadget than raw numbers.
However, you do have some incorrect information as well. The USB port does work just fine. I believe some Mac users are having issues however. Adobe Flash has been available for a few weeks. The SD card update and 4G support is still on the way.

Flash Works
Usb Works
So two things that won’t work. And it is not just the higher res screen, it is also a better camera and a OS that is perfectly made for tablets. Is it flawless? No. Will it get better? Yes, it will. Does it already beat iOS, the most boring thing to look at in the world. Indeed, it does.
not USB,, i meant HDMI.
Flash didn’t work at launch yet it was an “Advertised” feature..
I like the Xoom, i went to go buy one. Got to store, and was told of all the non-functional “better than iPad” Features.. Figured id wait on Apple to see what they offered in iPad2.
Now i’m waiting on Samsung (Mainly to be different, and iPads are out of stock)
HDMI works, you just need a standard micro HDMI cable. Apple iPad 2 also had HDMI, but you need a $40 adapter and a HDMI cable. But you are correct about Flash, wasn’t available at launch. Adobe now made it available to everyone.
See what happens when you release a unfinished product? it’s unfinishedness gets exaggerated
Still the Lack of functional SD slot, 4G, and Flash, are enough to sour customers.
Motorolla could fix all three (granted Flash is Adobe and already working??) tomorrow, and customers like me and most of us normal non-tech people. would still have a negative impression of the Xoom, because of the initial non-functional Features.
Today’s Grand prize.. you win one free tablet.. your choices are one Top of the line iPad, or a top of the line Xoom.
most people would pick the iPad.
Today i was reading that Acer, has a new pad with same or better specs, better price, and a Geforce video card. How the heck will that work? you go to the Android market place, and cant download and play some games unless you have a tablet with a Geforce card? it’s already bad enough that some Android 2.1 Apps dont work with Honeycomb, now we have to consider hardware? ok, my mind is slowly getting made up for me.. Apple is easier.
