Search With The Firefox AwesomeBar
April 28, 2010 10:12 PM

The Firefox AwesomeBar is great, but it does not fare well when performing Google searches. Instead of displaying search results, it automatically redirects queries to the first link using the “I’m Feeling Lucky” function. I had been searching for a way to make the AwesomeBar show all the search results, the way Google Chrome does. After a lengthy search I finally found my answer:

Follow these steps:

  1. Opening a new tab or window and type about:config into the address bar
  2. In the Filter box type: keyword.URL
  3. Double click on the entry listing and replace the value with the following link:
    http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&q=

If all goes well, performing searches with Firefox’s AwesomeBar should bring up an entire page of Google search results. Do you have any other convenient Firefox tips for us? Let us know in the comments.
