We finally have our hands on the HTC EVO 4G, the Apple iPhone 4, and the Motorola Droid X. If you haven’t been following our ongoing coverage, we had an amazing infographic comparing the three devices. For one of the first tests, I decided to see which device loads SkatterTech.com the fastest. Keep in mind, this test isn’t scientific. It was a single attempt, not averages. The test took place in Davis, CA which has 3G coverage for Sprint, AT&T, and Verizon Wireless.
We have our in depth review of the HTC EVO 4G for Sprint already published. We currently only have galleries available of the Motorola Droid for Verizon Wireless and the Apple iPhone 4 for AT&T, but both reviews are on their way. I call foul on this video. 1 Bar of Service in the Evo 3 on the Droid X but all 5 for the Iphone. Its always gunna be different where ever you are so these competitions are worthless. They are all insanely fast phones get over it.
CORRECTION: I like this test that was done, however in order for these test to be observed as a serious test you would have to run a series of speed test at-least 3-4 times in the same fashion you just did and the best out of 3-4 would clearly be the winner. Because truly, you will most likely have some person of opinion post their feeling of this test being illegitimate coming up with flaws such as; You pressed the iPhone 4 faster than both devices thus giving it a head start “or” how come you didn’t put the Sprint on it’s 4G network “or” being that the Motorola Droid X and EVO 4G screen is larger it has to process more data, thus giving iPhone 4 the advantage of having its 3.5 inch screen and etc. You see… there’s always going to be offended individuals who debate on behalf of the device they favor, so to get the excuses out the way you must show the viewers hard proof that it isn’t by chance one device won over thee other. So as for now this test “isn’t” ground proof that iPhone 4 web browser is faster, it’s just saying it can “possibly” be the case, for instance, “remember about two years ago when CNET ran a speed test with the iPhone 3G vs the G1 (Google first Device) and after one test they determined G1 as the winner over the iPhone 3G? Clearly we all know had they run two more tests iPhone 3G would have most certainly destroyed its competitor, but I guess we’ll never know because it was only one test. Anyhow, I love the EVO more and like the other 2 devices and though the test isn’t profound I’m still thankful. Peace. P.S: You guys have to make sure all three devices bars are full LMBO (told you)
Update!! Good news. As of 19 hours ago this gentlemen from TechnoBuffalo on Youtube ran a series of tests and the EVO 4G WON the Speed Test every time. Visit the Link I will provide and you’ll see the speed test starting at 6 min 45second @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULv-0xcciFE (I will advise you to watch the whole video! It’s hot and EVO is EVOLUTIONARY!!)
for those complaining about the test, I think the scattertech guy who made it knows that it isn’t accurate…. if you read the text it says “this test isn’t scientific.”
so i’m pretty sure those people know.
but yeah, people will complain anyways.
look at the infographic on this site, iphone people complain it is android bias. and here people complain it is iphone bias. they just reporter what ever. it’s not BS. get over it…
And the Android phones aren’t running Froyo either… but i also agree on what was said: “this test isn’t scientific” maybe a part two is in order :)
i think he should do it two at a time against the iphone 4g the third persons finger would i think throw it off idk though.. just a thought

Another reason i think the EVO and X were slower is i believe that they have Flash while the iphone does not. So maybe the two phones were trying to load advertisements running on flash while the iphone wasnt, therefore, making it quicker.
There is a problem with 4G and Android speedtest apps.
I get 6-7Mbps on EVO using speakeasy.net/speedtest but only 1-2Mbps with Android speed apps. I was able to confirm with hotspot that I can get up to 7Mbps.

I detected that flaw about 2 days ago and I was trying to inform the guy on youtube from pocketnowvideo that the speedtest.net application has a flaw and are not reading speeds correctly, I congested the posts with sound arguments feel free to check it out @ this link>>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bP7VtCPyPl0
Feel free to send me these phones for a speed test in San Diego. It would be 100% for scientific purposes and NOT so I can play with them ;D
I see some flaws in your test one you should run this test multiple times to be more accurate also wait a bit for the Android phones to upgrade to Froyo and probably go to a place that also has 4G coverage because to make this test more fair you need each phone to run on their full potential. To many people using the Evo 4G in a place that has 4G coverage might be unfair but like the phone says it’s 4G, what’s the point of this test if you are not using this phone on the coverage it was made for.
iPhone is the stuff! Go iPhone. My buddy Jim loves them!
