Earlier this year, Skatter Tech brought you the massive EVO 4G vs. iPhone 4 vs. Droid X infographic. While only a few months have passed, both Sprint and Verizon have introduced the Samsung Epic 4G and the Motorola Droid 2, respectively. While the Android market share has overtaken Apple’s iPhone share, no single Android device has sold nearly as many units as the iPhone 4. Although we didn’t have enough time to throw the HTC EVO 4G and the Motorola Droid X into this lineup as well, if you folks want to see another infographic, feel free to let us know.

Please don’t stop, I was enjoying it :( Gatorproof, your turn?
Mike and Jeff,
I felt someone needed to show a glimmer of self control and intellect. After all, isn’t the purpose of this forum about the comparison of front running smart phones. Once, the self admitted child revealed that he was fueled by raw emotion (“I am really REALLY mad”) and in fact didn’t own an IP4 or for that matter probably he doesn’t even own a smart phone.(Perhaps, he needs a raise in his allowance) You have heard the story of the guy who brought a knife to a gun fight? Well, he brought his notes for piano lessons to a smart phone debate. Then he wanted to impress me with how difficult it was to learn to play a piano. My vicarious mother had me on stage for a piano recital at age 6 in 1st grade. I retired in my 50’s, sold the businesses that my ex-wife didn’t get in the divorce and live in Florida 7 months out of the year and travel the other 5 months. Headed to Europe again in two weeks for 3 weeks. I do what I want, go where I want, I don’t have to work any more and I have seen 25 or 30 foreign countries. I have 4 children two of which have children the age of this little rooster who likes to cock fight. Both of my daughters have double Masters degrees, and my oldest daughter is back in school again while her daughter is starting college next year as well. I personally consider this lifestyle as “Getting a Life ” “Got a life” and “Having a Life”, for years to come, I hope anyway. I mean we are so distinctly mismatched for a bout of any kind save for an Xbox playoff, what’s the use. And let’s not forget back to the purpose of this forum. SMART PHONES. Now, Mike and Jeff, all you have to do is tune into the Jerry Spring Show for all the action one would need. Speaking of smart phones, I got mine stolen out of the cart in Sam’s Club the other day (yes, I learned a lesson)(what would they do with it, other then grab the 32 gb micro card) and I am waiting for a replacement. I am forced to use an LG Rumor until my replacement Epic arrives. Now that’s painful.
Gatorproof may have kieled over, he did say he was old. Wait.. maybe that was tpb. Oh well, what was this forum about? Some kind of cell phone? I just have some advice for those two. Never argue with an idiot, they’ll just drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. In their case I’d say they’re both seasoned veterans.
DROID is the best! My AT&T service is unacceptable even in large cities
Ok, fellow Epic owners, few share points and a couple of questions. I have had 3 Epics in 3 weeks. The first one was great, but I didn’t understand how easily you need to touch the 4 bottom invisible soft buttons. I literally cracked the Gorilla glass screen in the bottom left hand corner. Perhaps it was a combination of leverage and the style of case I was using (or me not understanding how hard I push). It cracked from the center of the menu button in six directions and went all the way to the side of the glass so it couldn’t continue cracking. So it was probably OK for future use considering it had a film on the screen. However, then the camera started taking fuzzy pictures and the battery had a two hour life for the way I used it. I do about 20 calls a months and the rest is play. So Sprint store in Brandon, Fl. Traded it out no charge. They didn’t like the crack, but the camera thing was unfixable, so that is why they replaced with an in stock phone with no waiting, how’s that for great service. I had (other experiences with Sprint Stores that also has been above and beyond the call of duty. Two days later, someone grabbed my phone out of the shopping buggy at Sam’s Club. Why? I had a trace put out on it but the phone was off, so I had to use insurance and wait a week for a replacement. So here are some suggestions from a Ecstatic Epic owner. Buy the Body Glove case (if you are a guy), it has chrome and black leather trim and it looks quite nice (I bought 3 cases and this is by far the best and has fuzzy inside coating) ($20 at Sprint and $12 on Amazon). I carry the phone in a belt padded small camera case. I carry an extra 1150 mAh booster battery from Duracell and a short mini to USB cord in the other zipper pouch of the phone just in case I need power before getting back to a power source. Buy a cigar lighter USB adapter for car charging with provided Samsung cord. I also carry for day trips an Xpal x40001 4000 mAh booster battery in my camera case. The really nice thing about these little booster batteries is that they will pump up a GPS, mp3, wireless head phone or earpiece small digital cameras and so on. Don’t leave home without one it you are a electronics addict. I bought the home Sprint docking station and downloaded the car and home apps from the market. I have a holder in one car that used to house a backup monitor that died .So Epic fits in it perfectly and in my truck I bought the $8.50 GT Max from Amazon for a device windshield holder Sprint Navigation works great on this unit. I gave the old Tom Tom to the neighbor kid and threw the Magellan in the junk drawer with the Co-Pilot and the Tom Tom Palm kit. The only GPS we still have active is the IGo Amigo Primo for hand held walking in foreign countries, when we are unsure of the CMDA phone base. This morning I ran across an Epic video that showed me some things I had not learned on my own yet. So, if you are still on the fence or own one maybe this is worth watching. I have to say, I LOVE this DEVICE. It is a constant source of entertainment, and it happens to make and very good phone calls. We live in a remote signal area and require a booster to talk on our phones in the house and this phone receives calls much better then my BB, my Moro Q, and my wife’s LG Rumor. The display is so good that I some times slide to an empty home page and just feed the fish on the screen saver and marvel at how clean and clear the graphics are. At about 90,000,000 triangles per second compared with the 22,000,000 of the Snapdragon processor of the other phone. NO CONTEST, throw in the best slide out key board (5) rows and big easy to find buttons for big ole fat fingers and you have a XXXL hand size guy’s dream device. Now, can anyone tell me what happens to the Road SMS app. I had it on the first phone but I can’t find it any more. I downloaded and tried to install the (Road sms1.01.apk) but still can’t find it. I really liked being able to see thru the phone and text with big red letters on the screen. Please respond if you know where it went. It was built for Samsung but other phones are able to load it by the above address. The link to the You Tube video doesn’t work, so search Google “Samsung Epic 4G full review on You Tube” and select the first choice to watch that great video about 12 minutes but this guy actually studied the phone before his presentation and how refreshing is that?
has iOS 4.2 been unblocked but? I cannot live with Cydia so not update my iPhone yet.
I recently dumped my no good Ip4 for the samsung epic 4g and I’m blown back by it’s overall performance. The 1ghz A8 hummingbird processor, physical keyboard, all five stars. Put another m in amoled and “say hello to my lil friend.” I’m apple at heart but I must thank samsung for finally meeting my needs, as far as phones go. BTW, the iphone still makes a great calculator;0…
“also the iphones reliabilty makes it tops…in 2 yrs ive had my fone replaced twice once because water got in the speak and the second because i dropped it…motorola and HTC by far the most UNreliable manufactures on the market…i previous owned each pocket pc from the 6700 all the way to the mogul the wing and the mda…each time my fone would have to be replaced atleast 6 times within 6 mos…yea they all had flashy features that the iphone did but i will put it like this…you can make a cubic zirconia shine brighter than a diamond, end of the day which is worth more? apple got it right…iphone=diamond”
HAve you reached your first replacement yet? lol
ummmmmmmm where do people get this MYTH you have to be on WIFI to use the Iphone video chat?!??!!? lol its a flat out lie poor journalism smh
There’s no myth. :) At the time of publishing, which was August 2010, the only video chatting tool was FaceTime. And to date, Apple’s FaceTime is still WiFi-only. Thankfully services such as Fring, Skype, and Tango offer video chat over 3G for the iPhone these days.
