Although I do not blog too regularly over here anymore, I would like to share something which I began working on a few months ago. This morning I’m launching Smartcar which aspires to bring automation to the next-generation of connected vehicles.
Here’s what it does: We’re starting with two features. The Intelligent Climate technology learns a person’s driving habits and automatically pre-conditions their vehicle to the perfect temperature before they even get into it by anticipating their next commute. In addition, the Intelligent Charging feature helps significantly cut utility bills by analyzing local electric rates and automatically finding the best hours to charge a vehicle in areas offering dynamic pricing.
How it got started: I launched an app called GlassTesla last year which lets you control your Tesla via Google Glass. I was absolutely humbled and caught off-guard by the incredibly warm reception it received. It was picked up by many media outlets including CNBC, Forbes, WIRED Magazine, PC Mag, LA Times, TechCrunch, GigaOm, InformationWeek, Business Insider, NY Times, CNET, FastCompany, Engadget, DigitalTrends, International Business Times, and more!
What’s happening today: I’m kicking off a crowdfunding campaign to make Smartcar a reality. It will be compatible with the Tesla Model S when it becomes available in Summer 2014. Support for other vehicles will follow.
I would love to hear your thoughts. Please feel free to drop me a note or leave a comment below!
