Autofill is one of the simplest form filler extensions available for Firefox. The last version released by the creators was v.2 in August 2004. This edition was originally created to only work with Firefox releases before version 1.0. I opened up the extension and made a few tweaks to enable it to work with Firefox 1.5. We have not had any bug issues since we started to test it out, but please report any in the comments or directly contact the creator. Autofill’s offical webpage is autofill.mozdev.org. If you have upgraded to Firefox v1.5 and Autofill v.2 has become a faded item in the Extensions list you can just click install on this site and it should overide the old version for your. (allow skatter.com to install this extension or just save it)
Autofill v.2 and v.25 Feature List:
- Auto highlight of all fillable forms
- Unlimited custom profiles
- Toolbar Button
- Credit Card filler (w/ password protection)
- See the offical website for full list
Install (or save): autofill_25.xpi

Update: Autofill v0.3 Offically Released w/ Firefox 1.5 Compatibility
(Note: This site has nothing to do with the creators of Autofill and is not responsible for any damage caused by using this product. There are only few version tweaks been made to support FF v1.5. No core software content has been modified.)
Update: If the “OK” button wasn’t working it was probably because an older users session didn’t exist on you computer. To make it work read this. Install the extension provided above for Firefox 1.5. Restart Firefox and try to enter a profile if it doesen’t work do the following. Go to “C:\” in My Compter and open the “Documents and Settings” folder. Go to the user you are currently logged onto or Administrator. Next open the “Application Data” folder. (if you can not see it enable hidden folders by going to tools > folder options… > view > advance settings > show hidden files and folders) Now open the “Mozilla” folder and the “Firefox” folder inside that. Enter the “Profiles” folder and open your profile folder. Now you should see a “prefs.js” file in there. Open the doc with NotePad or another editor and fill in your personal information in the fields shown on mozillaZine’s Forum.
ive tried a few and i didn’t like robo form cuz it was to messy. the autofil is sorta buggy but its simple and does the job.
i’ve installed autofill 2.5 but the OK button still doesn’t work in FF1.5
too bad…
I filled out all the info and when I press OK nothing happens. :(
it runs on 1.5 normally for me. don’t know why you are having problems.
This is how you can get this to work at the momment
“new version v.25 works great with FireFox 1.5! Add profile is a little weird in that you have to add a profile and enter a name then go back and choose that name and enter the information and then click OK, but it works fine.” -Dan Wilcox
Thanks for the extension update! For now, at least, this extension is still better than the actual Google Toolbar autofill options even though the Google Toolbar is now available for FireFox — and the extension is easier to use than some of the more complex AutoFill programs out there. So it’s good to have a working version of this again. Nice of you to make this compatible with the new Firefox…
(The one downside of these great open-source extensions is that after you’ve filled in all your info on an extension like this — or learned how to use it, depending on the type of extension — and then suddenly FireFox updates, the extension doesn’t update, and you have to start all over again with a new extension were you have to enter all your info all over again…. Not that we can expect instant updates to extensions from prorgammers that are making them for free for public use, but it’s this sort of thing that will keep FireFox from ever being as widespread as IE or even it’s Netscape sibling.)
Same as above: after selecting and filling out profile, the OK button does nothing. I can only close the window and lose all the info and the profile.
Roboform is so much better. It also integrates with Firefox and there’s a portable version so that you can take it with you on a USB key.
“phileplanet”
we get it for godsake!, you don’t need to repost your comment
anyways robo form has too many items. i like a simple 1-click button and autofill does an excelent job of getting that to work.

Thanks for this. I was using nightly tester tools and had the old version working, but it’s still nice to have something that actually should be working in your browser.
Also can’t get the okay to button to work.. i think i heard it only works if you have an existing profile.
I am having the same problem as anonymous: I create the profile, but when I click the OK button nothing happens. I am on MAC OSX.
Roboform is crap. It limits the number of saved passwords and pesters you to buy the “pro” or whatever it’s called version
I am having the same problem with the OK button. Just installed FF1.5 on a new dual G5 with Mac OS 10.4.3. If someone knows how to get this to work, please post the solution…
Thanks so much!
works great on the upgrade to firefox 1.5.
This is much better than all of the other extras that you may not want with the google toolbar W/autofill. Google can be a bit too nosy.
Installed, but creating a new profile is still impossible due to the unclickable “OK” button.
Shit. Me too, I can’t click the damn OK button. Crapola.
OK button doesn’t work for me either. I tried filling in the data fields for autofill using about:config, and although they get saved and survive FF1.5 restarts, none of the data shows up in the autofill configuration dialog and autofill doesn’t work.
I should have mentioned… I am using SuSE Linux 10.0 with the latest FF1.5 build from SuSE. I suspect maybe that the people who are using autofill successfully with FF1.5 are using the Windows version?
Nope, I’m using Windows XP pro and I can’t get the OK button to work, either.
*** I looked at this extension for a while and i think i figured out the problem. (it worked fine for me) So on one computer i had firefox 1.0.x running and already had the old autofill installed working fine. So when i updated it the extension no longer worked so i upgraded that to this v25 and it worked because all the old created profiles still existed. Then when i installed this on my new computer, never having installed an old version of firefox, just 1.5 it wouldnt let me create profiles. So that is the reason it works for some and not for others.
OK, that makes sense – I, too, installed 1.5 from scratch. So, how do we get the first profile set up? Can it be copied somehow from a working version? I have it on my old G4 with 1.4
The OK button won’t work unless you had a previous installation of Autofill installed and the information still exists in your prefs.js file. Use this Workaround to get the old v0.2 to work: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=316950&highlight=autofill+workaround
Thanks, Anonymous! I copied all of the old Autofill entries from my old prefs.js file (from my old G4) and pasted them in instead of the Autofill entries on my new prefs.js file, and Autofill is now back and working.
Is there any workaround for those of us that didn’t have previous installation of Autofill installed?
I never used firefox 1.0.x – just switched from Mozilla 1.7 to Firefox 1.5 recently…
